Yesterday the Ministry Of Housing in coordination with the District Of North Vancouver has released that they are going to be putting a Temporary Housing Project in on the corner of Welch and Pemberton. The Provincial Gov’t made the announcement regarding the HEART & HEARTH Project, specifically that 40 “temporary” homes (with supports) will be developed at 1182 Welch Street (South end of Pemberton Ave.) The Province has asked the DNV to partner on this project, and the District has agreed to lease the property.
According to the BC Housing website, a temporary use project is required for the project. “The District will consider public feedback when when it reviews this project”

But…..
They’ve announced an information session on Tuesday, June.16th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Norgate Xwemelch’stn Community Elementary School. It will be a drop-in, open house style event with NO formal presentation. Project information will be available on poster boards, and representatives will be present to answer questions one-to-one.
It’s obvious this has been in the works for awhile, but, Norgate was not notified at all nor was there any public consultation.
They would like people to register for this, so I am hoping that all Norgate residents and businesses will do so. The NPCA is working on a letter campaign to our MLA, the DNV, residents and local businesses it will affect. Please take a moment and register for this event and make your voice heard.
