Hello neighbours! Our neighbourhood block party is really coming along. There are going to be many fun activities for everyone!
There will be a free BBQ, and everyone can grab:
- one free hot dog
- a bottle of water
- a bag of chips
- and two timbits for everyone who wants them.
- Vegetarian hot dogs will be offered on a first come-first serve basis
- Near the end of the event, we’ll check supplies and you’re welcome to come back for seconds. We just want to make sure that everyone gets some.
Who doesn’t love lemonade on a summer day? (Even end of summer days!) There will be a lemonade stand by donation for our chosen charity, “The Harvest Project” https://www.harvestproject.org/
Schedule for the day:
- Opening remarks at 12:00
- Fire Truck at 2:00
- At 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00 there will be a “pie” eating contest. The “pie” is just going to be yummy whip cream which you’ll need to eat without the use of your hands as fast as possible. Who’s up for the challenge??
- Closing remarks and draw winner announced.
We found a FacePainter! She’s an amazing talent! It’s free but there will be a tip jar there if you you’d like to add to it for her.
We’re going to have two bouncers! (Bouncy castles). One will be a huge obstacle style bouncer, generously donated by Emily Hachie at Par-T-Pro. And one toddle bouncer owned by one of the NPCA members. Waivers must be signed before entering either one, so be sure to have your parent or guardian with you.
Games galore! There will be an “axe” throwing game (not real axes of course) and a giant connect 4 game, sidewalk chalk, jump ropes, hula hoops and more!
The NV District Fire Dept will have a truck there, (assuming they don’t get called out to a call)
We’ll have lots of local information booths including:
- Block Watch
- Community Info (Donations to the NPCA are welcome so we can continue to put on community events like these). Please come and add your local business info se we can add you to the FB group.
- When you drop by the Info table be sure to put your name in for the free draw! (announced at 4:00)
- 30-Minute Hit
- Humane Charities and vegan info
- Beyond Landscaping
- And possibly a few vendors so bring some cash / cc just in case.
Sounds like a full day of FUN, right? So head over to Whitewood Place in between Sowden and Cottonwood on Sunday, Sept.7 from 12-4. You can come out and meet some of your neighbours and meet your NPCA members!
It will be held rain or shine, (fingers crossed for shine) so dress appropriately
Please walk or cycle to keep it a safe event, and parking will be limited.
We would prefer we keep our furry family members at home for this one, as there will be lots of tiny tots running around. We appreciate your understanding.
